Indonesia’s Special Vehicle and Electric Vehicle Industry Grows Amidst Global Challenges
Jakarta, May 19, 2025 – Amidst global economic uncertainty, Indonesia’s special vehicle industry has demonstrated impressive performance. PT Nusatama Berkah Tbk (NTBK), one of the leading players in the sector, recorded a 25% revenue growth in the first quarter of 2025 compared to the same period last year.
NTBK’s President Director, Bambang Susilo, stated that this achievement was made despite challenges such as U.S. tariff policies and ongoing geopolitical instability. “We remain optimistic that the special vehicle industry holds significant potential for continued growth, especially with the support of national infrastructure projects and increasing demand from the mining and logistics sectors,” he said.
The special purpose vehicle industry includes the manufacturing of vehicles tailored for specific needs, such as those used in mining, construction, and heavy logistics. Demand for these vehicles continues to rise in line with Indonesia’s infrastructure development and the expansion of strategic sectors.
Further advancing its strategic initiatives, NTBK has entered the electric vehicle (EV) sector through the sale of electric trucks. This move is realized through a partnership with Norinco Vehicle, a Chinese company, with NTBK serving as their authorized dealer in Indonesia. This collaboration is expected to become a growth driver for NTBK in the future.
The Indonesian government, through the Ministry of Industry, continues to foster growth in this sector by offering incentives and facilitating investment. With strong policy support and increasing investment from global manufacturers, Indonesia is on the right track to become a regional hub for electric vehicle production in Southeast Asia, while simultaneously strengthening its position of the special vehicle industry in the global market.
